Lost & Found Material:PaperThe inspiration for this piece came from a hike in the forest at sunset, with the light holding its last breath. Theres something about the way light moves through trees at the end of the day it feels like the world is both letting go and holding on at the same time. When it was complete, I had no name for it. I sat with it for a couple of months. I kept coming back to it. Kept asking what it should be called. And then, with a little time and distance

like whispered secrets in the breeze

brown and muted purples palette

Bloom is not a study

the petals unfold in a mesmerizing rhythm

tiny babes

structure is most certainly the first step

it’s found in the routine and daily discipline of putting on my painting clothes and walking into my studio with a hot cup of coffee in hand

Light and color 'broke through' and I began to see the world through the creative lens of my children

I kept coming back to it

but invites

only felt - a painting that works on you the way a horizon works on you

like depth itself
