An Afterthought for pedal harp - Sirin Pancaroglu VocalI had the idea of composing An Afterthought while writing down the transcription of Rehavi Perev by Dervi Mustafa (d. 1757) for harp, a piece dating to the eighteenth century. I was inspired by how easily the melodic material lent itself to another usul, the yrk semai. Moving away from the perev which is based on the evsat usul, a rhythmic pattern of 26 8 with a ceremonious character, I imagined a fluid and different context for these melodies in the
