They have set about using low intervention methods of wine making and reducing yields to maximise flavours. A difficult growing season but good wines were made. Typical blend Pinot Noir. 75cl bottle. Abv 13% Bottle condition excellent 13 07 2020 88 Points Dark ruby in colour on decanting. Thrown down a very minor sediment. Slightly liquorice edge to firm cherry fruit pastille on the nose. Sweet,

From 1983 vintage onwards considered to have made very good wines in almost every vintage

The estate was ranked a fourth growth in the 1855 classification

Sadly not a great vintage

label has a piece missing

The nose is immediately very aromatic and feels like classic Bordeaux varieties showing celery seed

sweet decay and spicy ginger

Warm and humid weather

Created in 1998 by the Mckinlay family with 20 hectare of mature vines with an average age of sixty

medium body with peppery spice

The wine though is unaffected by the cork problem

The 1981 Chateau Beychevelle was lighter in style to the 1982 and 1983 vintage

a little grubby and stained
